Asso is a religious man in his forties, he's an extremist. He loves his wife and his daughter but has to face the dilemma of choosing between his wife and the Islamic strict and extreme rules.

Winner, Best Director

Tom and his sister Meirav meet up with Haïm Bouzaglo, a famous Israeli film director they know nothing about, in a cafe in Tel Aviv during one of Tom's visits to his family in Israel. Haïm proposes a role to Tom in his next movie. Tom is sceptical at first but he then realises Haïm’s notoriety when both his whimsical mother and his father won’t stop talking about Haïm. Tom decides to look into Haïm’s films and immediately becomes a big admirer of his work. Then, when Haïm offers a screenwriter mission to Tom on a new project of his, Tom is over the moon. The writing process will prove to be harder than expected, and when Haïm decides to challenge Tom to write the entire film script in 14 days, a race against the clock begins that will force Tom to become resourceful while also dealing with his extravagant, colourful, and invasive family, to try his best to finish writing the script in time.

To Meet Esther

2022, 18 min, Germany, Drama. Director: Anna Eret

Winner, Women Spotlight and Best Rising Talent.

Marianna of Jewish-Russian descent, born in Germany, proudly presents her Jewish family tree at elementary school. Contrary to her parents who are afraid of antisemitic attacks, she confesses to be Jewish. When she gets home, she tries to smuggle in the poster about her Jewish family without being noticed.  On that day the young journalist and blogger Eva is visiting, she learns about the discrepancy in the family and about the double life Marianna has to live up until now. Eva recognizes herself in this little girl and writes for the first time about her Jewish origin in her blog. The statement triggers hundreds of reactions and finds a positive response among people with jewish background.

The movie “Saved pictures” describes the life of a young emigrant in Poland.The story is a dynamic and accurate reflection of reality. With little corrections that most of his life the guy, who works as a designer, spends in front of his computer trying to create an advertisement. There are so many advertisements that the line between virtuality and reality is blurred.. His permanent usage of graphic editors turns his life into a continuous series of saved pictures. He’s in love with a model from the internet that he has ever seen in reality. His excuse is that while he is doing aggressive marketing, he is only into the graphics. . “You wake up in the morning and you see them around again. Symbols. Associations, images, metaphors and meanings. Around. All the time.. You are walking around the street, going by a tram, sitting at work and they constantly surround you. And your own life also consists of pictures and symbols. Every day is a way from home to tram, then to work and then back home. That’s how life goes on. Until beauty changes everything.”

The War Within

2020, 15 min, Iran, Drama. Director: Javid Farahani.

A paralyzed man who has lost his legs due to a car accident is now staying at home, buying and selling dollars. He is now expecting a war between Iran and The US in the hope for a soar in the price of his savings in dollar, regardless of how many people would die in the war. The war and the profit he makes by selling his dollars afterwards, would help him make a fortune as well as having a leg operation. And this is just the beginning of the story …
P.S. the story goes back to the day at the beginning of the year 2020 when Iran attacked an American military base in Iraq called “al-Asad” as an act of revenge.

 

Weezy Goes Outside

2020, USA. 16 min. Comedy. Director: Daniel Tenenbaum

Winner, Best Cinematography. 

Weezy is on her way to Coney Island at 3am to bury her beloved goldfish, Booboo, who recently died of a heart attack. Between the MTA's unreliable service and strange appearances nothing goes according to plan.

Homo Sapiens

2019, 20 min, Israel, Comedy, LGBT. Director: Bar Friedman

Winner, Best Israeli Short and Best Script.

A student who has a lot of growing up to do and is unfortunately also a bit ignorant, needs to study for an exam with a fellow student of his, who just happens to be homosexual, or else risk failure. In the runup to the exam he commits just about every PC faux pas under the sun, but manages to learn a lot as well, not just for the exam. Along the way he discovers that he can be physically attracted to another man, when before he wouldn’t dare say who is better looking: a movie star or a funny looking old comedian, he stands up for a gay couple – so what if he winds up doing even more damage? And he discovers a new friend, who he finds even intriguing, and so what if he is gay?

I Love You

Itamar ben ziv Ron has to help his girlfriend in a drunken mishap and deal with her best friend Yam.Ron and Yam need to get along for the sake of the one person they care about while secrets and the truth are revealed.

The Day before Creation

Winner, Best Feature and Best Animation. 

Malkah is just a little kid when her father tries to teach her to read Torah. But they don't get very far. As Malkah reads aloud, her questions multiply. They take her on a lifelong journey deeper and deeper into Jewish mystical texts, far off places, encounters with ancient gods, and ultimately into the nature of existence itself. Malkah discovers an earlier, hidden creation story right inside the one offered on the surface of Genesis.

The Third and Fourth Generation

2022, 58 min, Switzerland. Director: Lukas Zünd

Winner, Best Documentary.

Silvia has spent almost her entire adult life in a community as a deaconess. Recently she started regularly visiting the place where her grandfather served as a Nazi concentration camp commander. As she unwaveringly confronts her family history and her own childhood trauma, the celibate woman finds herself at an unexpected turning point.

BELLE-ILE IN ACADIE

2019, 26 min, Canada, Director: Phil Comeau

Acadians from Belle-Ile-en-Mer, France, visit Canada to meet their "cousins" with whom they share a common culture and history. Descendants of the deported Acadians by the British from their original homeland, they walk on their ancestral lands and attend the international World Acadian Congress. This film is about exile, the power of memory and finding your roots.  (354 awards received worldwide.)

 

Poetry Zaban

2021, 58 min, Israel, Director: Prof. Amir Har-Gil

Two young Israeli social activists visit the great master Yair Zaban, who devoted 70 years of his life to the struggle of improving the social conditions and the political situation in Israel. Yair Zaban a well-known figure, a man who devoted his life to make the world a better and just place. The film will tell the journey in which they will learn about the struggles Yair engaged in and the insights he gained as a leader. They challenged him with questions and learn how even a small minority may change reality. Israeli Poetry Slam segments dealing with dilemmas Yair Zaban was engaged in are integrated in the film.  

2005 Nights and Days

“2005 Nights and Days”  is a documentary film telling a touching story which took place in Kashubia during World War II. Not only is it the story of a love which knew no boundaries at a time when fundamental values had collapsed. It is a film about overcoming fear and human frailty in the name of the highest value - the saving of another life.  The story of Marta Kos and Mendel Maks Strom is told by Albin Miłosz, the last eyewitness to the events presented in the film and a friend of both protagonists.  2005 - that many nights and days -  from the 11th of September 1939 to the 8th of March 1945, Mendel Maks Strom hid in tunnels excavated beneath the home of Marta Kos in Kiełpino. According to information available by the end of the film Maks Strom remained in hiding longer than any other Polish Jew during World War II.

Dajla: cinema and oblivion 

2020, 15 min, Spain. Director: Arturo Dueñas Herrero.

Life is going on in Dakhla, one of the Sahrawi refugee camps in southern Algeria, forgotten for 45 years. The celebration of a film festival, the Fisahara, breaks the monotony. The event ends, life (and oblivion) continues.

Fashion Designer and Mogul Elie Tahari, has been living the American Dream for more than 50 years. He came to New York in 1971 with less than $100 in his pocket, slept on benches in Central Park, and went on to build a billion-dollar fashion empire.
